To ensure that every session runs smoothly and safely, the nurseries have set a series of policies and guidelines. Below are statements of the central policies and a list of those others that we use. For full details, please use the Contact Us facility.

Our mission statement is:

“ Rum Tum Tugger’s Nurseries are community based facilities providing the highest standard of childcare for children in the age range of 3 months to 5 years . As a team, we aim to ensure that the social, emotional and educational needs of each child will be met and provided for, using the best possible care and attention. Our objective is two fold. Firstly, to give parent’s their first choice in childcare measured by the children’s enjoyment of the early years experience and secondly, to recognise that a child’s needs and safety are paramount and must override all other considerations."

We like to make a record of the many events and activities that happen at Rum Tum Tugger’s. Sometimes, the local press are involved and we wanted to share some of their comments about us with you. Each day at a Rum Tum Tugger’s Nursery has a surprising number of different activities. There are always routine events that make the foundation of the day familiar to our children, including meals and snacks, outdoor playtime and circle time.

Meal and snack times are wonderful social sessions where children are given the opportunity to develop independence skills and to mix with friends of different ages. Our fresh produce is sourced from a local organic outlet and we offer the children a wide range of freshly cooked meals including traditional roasts, veggie curry, chinese chicken and sausage casserole. We place a strong emphasis on healthy eating, choosing low allergen items wherever possible and we are experienced in providing a range of specialist diets including dairy and gluten free options."

At Rum Tum Tugger’s Nursery, we recognise this from the very first time a family visits us. We take time to learn about each child before they start a period of settling-in. By asking parents about likes, dislikes, routines, favourite toys and comforters, their children can be quickly welcomed into the nursery using a series of visits that are planned with parental help and advice.

Our Harlow nursery makes full use of our identity to encourage children to feel included. The children wear sweat shirts and polo shirts which display our friendly kitten and each child is presented with their very own nursery bag to carry books and artwork to and from the setting.

Rum Tum Tugger's Nursery in Harlow was registered by Ofsted in February 2006. It reflects the methods that have proven successful in our Epping setting, blending Montessori methods of learning with traditional techniques to create a vibrant and inspirational play space were children and babies can develop in a safe and secure environment.

The directors, Hayley Martin-Burns and Jil Pascale, enjoy active daily roles as Business Manager and Head of Nursery.

After nine happy and successful years at Thorowgood, we have decided to consolidate our services in Epping with our Harlow setting. Rum Tum Tugger's Harlow offers greater opportunities in terms of space and a wider range of play opportunities both indoors and outside.

It is located alongside Harlow common and is easily accessible from Epping and the surrounding villages without crossing the busy Junction 7 roundabout. Please call and ask for directions through Jacks Hatch and through Potter Street.
