What happens on the inside?
During an attack, the blood vesels in your brain dilate and then draw together with stimulation of nerve endings near the affected blood vessels. The constriction in the blood vessels is probably what causes the pain.

Conventional Migraine Treatment

Conventional migraine treatment involves simple painkillers, anti-sickness drugs or then the 'triptan' group of drugs such as sumatriptan (Imigran), rizatriptan (maxalt) and zolmitriptan (Zomig). These drugs cause the blood vessels around the brain to contract, thus counteracting the dialation that seems to part of the initial migraine process.
